Recently, students from the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering at Colorado State University made a public posting of a fake restaurant that disparages Asians, and includes a racial slur in the name of said "restaurant." These students have had a history of making attention-seeking controversial statements and defend it all as "political satire." There is a fine line between political satire and using racial slurs and overtly offensive "jokes" to make a point. Even removing politics and race from the situation, it is an obvious cry for attention. So for those engineering students involved, here is the attention you so badly wanted that you felt you needed to offend people to attain it. 

Dean of Engineering David McLean sent out an email to students condemning these students' actions and saying that "we have ZERO tolerance for racism and hatred" and "There is no place for people in our community who cannot embrace the university’s Principles of Community."

As part of the College of Engineering's Diversity Programs in Engineering leadership, we agree and are asking that these students face disciplinary action for their ignorance and purposely hurtful actions toward people in our community. All who sign this petition support our call for these students to receive disciplinary action where possible from the College of Engineering.
