Support DCI's efforts to secure a permanent home

Support DCI's efforts to secure a permanent home
The Issue
DC International School (DCI) is an innovative response to the need for quality middle and high schools. On September 2, 2014, two hundred 6th and 7th graders will begin their middle and high school journey at DCI. As a groundbreaking consortium of five existing foreign language immersion elementary charter schools, DCI will offer advanced world language instruction through the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Program. The school will eventually serve 1200 students as we add a grade each year and graduate our first 12th graders in 2020.
DCI students will come from its Tier 1 member public charter schools located in Wards 1, 4 and 5. DCI aims to serve a diverse population of students; we estimate our population will be 40% Hispanic, 35% African-American, 20% Caucasian, and 5% Asian. Fifty-four percent of our students will qualify for free/reduced meals. These students thrived in their elementary years, and DCI will ensure their secondary education is equally successful. DCI is also excited to be able to enroll approximately 20 percent of its student body from the city at large via public lottery.
As a new school, DCI is currently pursuing a quality facility that will be a permanent home for our 1200 DCI students in Wards 1, 4 or 5.
Please sign this petition to tell the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor for Education, and the DC Council (many of whom are running for mayor now) that you want them to work with DCI to secure a permanent facility in Wards 1, 4 or 5.
Please inform them how critical DCI is to the creation of quality middle and high school seats for DC children citywide.
