The recent news that Amber Heard is reportedly being investigated by the LAPD is gaining traction.
Originally reported in the German news outlet BILD, the story is being picked up and spread around by American sources as well. This is good news in and of itself.
The press so far has been decidedly pro-Heard, posting every little thing she says and does, painting her in a favorable light, while largely refusing to print anything remotely favorable to Heard's ex husband, Johnny Depp.
The two are embroiled in litigation that's already gone on as many as 3 years, and promises to continue into years to come. The two will face off in court in Fairfax, VA starting in April of 2022 in Johnny Depp's defamation suit against Heard. There's no telling how long that will take to play out.
One thing's for sure, though, it's going to be informative. CCTV footage of everything that happens in the hallways of the Eastern Columbia building in LA is recorded by security cameras. That, of course, is where the couple lived at the time of their explosive falling out. So, Heard's claims of Depp's behavior could very bell be confirmed or debunked by the building's own security cameras.
One claim has already been given a new light. Bodycam footage from two of the officers responding to 911 calls was recently released, showing no damage to the apartment, including the door, that Heard had previously claimed.
It remains to be seen what evidence will be forthcoming for the defamation trial, but I'm willing to bet it'll be newsworthy.
And with the media showing a willingness to report stories that may favor Depp, we'll be able to follow it in the media. Hopefully by then, it'll be completely acceptable to cover pro-Depp stories as well.
What do you think? Is Johnny Depp winning the press over again? Will we see an upward trend toward supporting Johnny Depp? Drop by Twitter and let us know what you think.
