In her latest motions, Amber Heard asks the court to sanction Adam Waldman, Johnny Depp’s lawyer, preventing him from communicating with the press, social media, or any potential third party witnesses about this case. In short, she doesn’t want Waldman to post on Twitter.
She says that “Throughout this litigation, Mr. Waldman has acted like anything but an attorney this Court has a right to expect.”
In her memorandum, Heard insists that Mr. Depp has defamed her through Mr. Waldman’s statements as Mr. Depp’s agent, and has orchestrated a robust social media campaign against her through the use of inauthentic social media accounts (i.e. not real accounts by real people) casting aspersions on Heard while often praising Mr. Depp and Mr. Waldman. The conduct for which Defendant now seeks sanctions is related but distinct from the conduct alleged in Heard’s counterclaims.
What that means is that this isn’t the same assertion she made in her counterclaim, this is a completely new motion asking the court to make Mr. Waldman stop posting on social media.
More than that, it looks like she’s trying to get Adam Waldman thrown off the case all together, saying that “the court has the right to revoke the pro had admission of Depp’s lawyer (Waldman), if his behavior on social media adversely impacts the administration of justice.”
Admission pro hac vice is when a lawyer from another jurisdiction is allowed to practice in another area. Virginia isn’t Adam Waldman’s normal stomping ground, so Heard wants him thrown off the case.
The reasons she says he should be dismissed aren’t just his actions on social media. She also blames Waldman for leaking Josh Dre’s deposition transcript. She goes on and on about Waldman on Twitter, having puppies and kittens about other “leaked” materials and laundered information.
What it really means is that Waldman’s doing his job, Heard can’t stand it, and she’s doing everything she can to get rid of him.
It also looks like she’s so jealous of Johnny’s popularity on social media that she can’t see straight. He gets hundreds of thousands of “likes” on his Instagram posts, none of which have had a single thing to do with her.
On top of asking for all these sanctions, Heard also asks the court to award her the cost of filing these motions in the first place. She wants to fling mud at Depp and his legal team, and she wants Depp to pay for her to do it. Talk about nerve.
What do you think? Will she be successful in getting rid of Adam Waldman? Or will the court tell her to sit down and shut up? Yeah, me too.
