Here it is, folks, the final day of court. Amber arrived back in her school marm mode, all black from head to toe. She couldn’t resist trying to sex it up a bit though, with a sky-high slit up the front of her skirt. Johnny’s in a grey suit, looking in good spirits ahead of closing arguments on his behalf. Fans had flowers and artwork and chanted “Justice for Johnny!” in support for him. He, in turn, handed out thank you notes and bandanas to the crowd as a thank you for their support throughout this entire ordeal. What a sweetheart.

David Sherborne spoke out on behalf of Johnny today, starting with a much-needed reminder not to lose focus on why we’re all here. It’s not this Depp v Heard drama; that will be settled in Virginia in early 2021. What we’re here for is to decide whether or not the Sun tabloid libeled Johnny Depp when they called him a “wife-beater” on the front cover and continued to portray him as such in the article. That’s it. Everything else is smoke and mirrors.

The burden of proof, Sherborne said, falls to the Sun to prove that the article was true. And frankly, everything they’ve tried to pull throughout the course of this trial just doesn’t fly. Every accusation of violence save one depends solely upon the fact that Amber Heard says so. They didn’t put forth a shred of evidence that wasn’t easily debunked.

The one accusation of violence is the “stairs” incident, at which Heard’s sister Whitney was supposedly present. And Whitney is obviously biased. Whether through loyalty to her sister or fear of retaliation, Whitney supported Heard’s version of events, even though that was easily debunked, too. Heard’s own medical history proves that she was never injured. All those doctors and nurses aren’t lying.

Heard was the abuser in the relationship, Sherborne points out. And Johnny’s not only got physical and medical evidence to support that, he’s got a myriad of witnesses who saw her being violent toward him. And, to top it all off, he’s got Heard on tape confessing to it. That’s pretty cut and dried.

Over and over throughout the course of the trial, Heard has gotten caught in one lie after the next. She lied about the dogs in Australia, she lied to Homeland security, and she’s lied about every single incident where she claims Johnny Depp abused her. Each and every lie was categorically debunked and exposed. That completely shatters any credibility she had going in, which wasn’t much to begin with.

Now it goes to the judge, and there’s no telling how long he’ll take to reach a decision. It could be tomorrow, or it could take weeks. Given the complexity and sheer volume of testimony and evidence there is to consider, I think it’ll take some time. But when the decision finally comes down, I’ll be sure to post it just as fast as I can.
