Take down "K2 Zombie" advertisements

The Issue

The Washington, DC Department of Health recently started circulating advertisements on public transit that suggests using K2/Spice, otherwise known as "fake weed", will turn you into a zombie. We at Students for Sensible Drug Policy believe this is a bad tactic to educate our young people about potential harms of drug use.

Public health campaigns should be founded on science and reason, not scare tactics that aren't true. We want to educate our youth, not deceive them and lose their trust. Congress has already defunded advertisements like this as part of the Office of National Drug Control Policy's anti-drug youth media campaign because we know they don't work.

SSDP knows that honest, open, and rational drug education works, and that's why we are calling on the DC Department of Health to take down this advertisement. Congress has already defunded advertisements like this as part of the Office of National Drug Control Policy's anti-drug youth media campaign because we know they don't work. So why is DC wasting your tax dollars on ads proven not to work?
