It was unfair to the artist responsible. The cover paid homage to a loved and classic comic "The Killing Joke." The cover itself represented what lead to Batgirl becoming a better hero, showing that she is not just a sidekick. The hardships she endured in the Killing Joke showed that even women can overcome traumatic experiences in order to make themselves stronger.
