On the 6th of July, the DC Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the FDA ban on the use of the Graduated Electronic Decelerator (GED) in the use of therapy on Autistic Individuals. 

The GED was developed at the Judge Rotenberg Centre, and delivers an electric shock, ranging from 15.5 to 45.5 mA directly to the skin of Autistic individuals, lasting for a duration of 2 seconds. It is controlled via a remote, and has been used for infractions as minor as forgetting to take a coat off when entering a building. For a comparison, a police taser (the X26) only produces a shock of 2.1 to 3.6 mA. 

Many autistic individuals have been admitted to hospital after receiving third degree burns from this device, and the United Nations have officially named it a torture device.  

Now, children and teenagers at the Judge Rotenberg Centre are once again going to be exposed to torture. 

This petition is calling for this decision to be once again overturned, and for the use of the GED to be permanently banned in all circumstances. Stop torturing Autistic people, #StopTheShock.
