Give Daybreak Home Owners a Voice

Give Daybreak Home Owners a Voice
The Issue
I have been a Daybreak resident for 3 years. I love living here. I love the community. I love the parks and the lake. Two years ago we decided to build our "dream home" in Daybreak. A large part of that decision was Brookside Park and the amenities it would include. I went to Homeowner's Meetings for the unveiling. We were shown renderings of the pool that was to include a lap pool, a kiddie pool, and hot tub. The goal of the project was to alleviate congestion at the Eastlake Pool. First the pool construction of the pool was delayed. Now, as the pool is nearing completion we are seeing that the plans went through drastic changes without any communication to the residents. The pool building is beautiful and the fence around the pool is gorgeous, but the pool itself in undersized. There is no lap pool. There is no hot tub. There is only a kiddie pool.
I reached out to the Homeowner's Association to find out how this happened. No one could answer my questions. I was referred to Rio Tinto. I was shuttled around to 5 different people who passed the blame on to someone else. Finally I spoke to Dutson an employee of Rio Tinto who is assigned to the committee over parks and amenities for Daybreak. After a 25 minute conversation I had more questions than answers. He told me he "didn't know how it happened." He "[didn't] remember how or when the decision was made to change the pool." He also told me that, "there is no specific person in charge of these decisions, but that [he was] on the committee that made the decision to shrink the pool."
Dutson had not seen the pool's construction and could not or would not tell who provided oversight to the construction. He told me that the committee had made no effort to communicate the changes to our community.
Currently there is no way to communicate with Rio Tinto about the amenities in our community. I was told to attend the open committee meetings. Attending an open meeting is nearly impossible for most members of Daybreak. There is not a meeting space large enough to accommodate all of us who own homes. A better system is needed than attending a meeting. A more open communication between the developer and the community is needed. The Brookside Park pool is just one example of many where the developer has made promises that were left unfulfilled. The list of unfulfilled promises is long and has left many residents feeling frustrated. We need to hold them accountable.
Join with me on this petition to ask Rio Tinto, Kennecott Land, and the Daybreak Homeowner's Association to listen to us, the residents. Let us show these organizations that we will hold them to their word. If we don't hold them to their word they will keep giving empty promises that convince us to buy homes here.
At a minimum an online forum for amenities is needed. We have more strength and power than that. We need to ask them to give us the pool they promised in Brookside Park. We need to ask them to give us the pool that was promised in Founder's Park and the dog park that was given and then taken away. We need them to give us the soccer fields and baseball diamonds that were promised and then turned into condos and apartments. This is our home. It has incredible potential, but we need to hold Rio Tinto, Kennecott Land, and the Homeowner's Association accountable.
