The community in Hidden Creek off of Hickory Tree Road in Davidson County continues to take steps to keep our neighborhood a safe place to live. In light of the recent rash of crime in our area, on top of the severity of the increase in crimes across the nation, we are asking the County to come along side us and support our safe-keeping efforts by passing laws to stop solicitation in Davidson County; at a minimum granting safeguards/deterrents. Our homes are being cased and broken into; property we have worked our whole life for stolen, and we feel our lives are being threatened. This summer alone we have had extremely aggressive and shady solicitors roaming our streets and knocking on our doors as late as 9:30pm, They run the gauntlet from Vivint sales people to Kirby representatives to people pretending to be from tree cutting services. We have a neighborhood watch program and have posted no soliciting signs. We call the police when we see strangers and we call each other to inform. We have no way of knowing who these people are and don't want them here; we are not safe, our children are not safe.

Please help us by prohibiting soliciting in Davidson County. If this is impossible then we respectfully ask that you then adopt laws such as the enclosed ones from the City of Winston-Salem. They include but are not limited to allowing soliciting only during certain hours, making licensing a requirement and part of that licensing a background check, enforcing prohibited solicitations at residences where the resident has posted notification that solicitation is not desired, adopting financial penalties, etc. Thank you for your support.
