Stop the hoarding boarding, save the horse’s
The Issue
The farm has multiple complaints that have been brought to the attention of animal control but it seems Sun and Moon Ranch is friends with the animal control officer. The officer has indicated that he isn’t sure what he is looking at because he doesn’t have horse experience. The stud on the property is a 15 year old palomino he has had a horrible injury on his rear left foot. I started going there 3 months ago and it has only got worse. I have advised her she needs to call a vet and she has disregarded everything I have suggested. He now has no frog on his foot. He is continuing to losing weight witch I have also advised her to contact a vet about it and she has not done anything about it. She continues to feed him Powder Bute in every meal!
She has wild mustangs that are not tame and not in the required enclosure. When she gets the video call she shows the one mustang approved enclosure she has. She has right at 6 acres of land with around 26 horses very little grass and running a boarding and riding lesson program with no public restrooms. Not to mention that she leaves bute powder out on the counter open most times with children being around on the property. She has around 4 to 6 mares pregnant at the moment. She is constantly going to horse sales looking and/or buying more horses to add to the already stressed property. There has to be something done to bring the number of horses down to a manageable number for the acreage to sustain. Or just take them all from someone that doesn’t understand how to properly keep horses. The owner has had complaints in Pitt County also for similar aligation. She claims to be a 501 rescue but she is not. This place will have multiple foals hitting the ground in spring and has no stalls or suitable structures to keep them safe. There are a lot of people wanting something done for the welfare of the horses but don’t know how to go about it so I am stepping up to do something about it. There are hundreds of video and pictures that can back up his clam. Also there are newspaper articles from Pitt county from which she and here horses were removed from a parade due to the condition of the horses she had there. There are also reports filed to the animal control in Pitt county nc to her abandonment of animals on the property when she up and left to move to Lexington NC. Now being here she has begun to neglect the horses and she is false advertising to be a rescue and offering services she can not fulfill. This can simply not go on any longer and needs to be addressed before something happens to any of these horses. Please support our efforts to rectify this serious problem and get these horses to homes that can love them and give them a well deserved life.
