WE NEED TO BE OUR CHILDRENS ADVOCATE

WE NEED TO BE OUR CHILDRENS ADVOCATE
The Issue
It started when my daughter became ill and I took her to the emergency room for care. She was violently sick and bleeding out of places where no five year old should bleed from and I am not talking drops it covered the bottom of a bed pan. I requested an iv for my daughter. As I knew something was seriously wrong. Not only was I told they were not putting my daughter through that they took no labs and sent her home with a virus. The next morning I wake up and my daughters lifeless body was laying in the hallway. I picked her up and rushed her to the doctor and stated something was seriously wrong.they immediately admitted her and found out she had caught Ecoli. I called the hospital and explained how my daughter was misdiagnosed and if it wasn't for me and if I had trusted the ER doctor my daughter might not be here today. I then explained to the medical director that I do not want someone to have to go through this as if I was a first time mom I would have believed and trusted the doctor and my little girl who years ago I sacrificed my own life for, would not be here. I did not want anymore children becoming ill and being misdiagnosed. It turns out we had several cases who were all discharged with a virus. They became severely ill requiring much more medical attention than my daughter. Some had renal failure, and one little boy has, passed. It is with my hope and prayer that the state comes up with an alert system that requires ALL HOSPITALS to advise on severe illnesses or an outbreak in our state. If the police can use something nationwide then why can't a state pass a bill or law that requires ALL hospitals to be on an alert system. These are our babies we need to be their advocate to ensure they are properly diagnosed and receive the quickest treatment possible with no delays. It is truly in my heart if this system was in place children would not be as sick or could have been attended to before it is to late.
