Hello Everyone! I have been hiking the woods documenting all the different wildlife that is living in the Forest that is marked for CLEAR CUT. I was told by the DNR that there is little wildlife in this forest and that most of it is smaller animals such as squirrels, rabbits, chippers etc.. and that the larger animals just migrate through. I know this is not true as I am here all year long and have photographed the deer, beer and can hear the wolves and coyotes howling in the night its really beautiful to sit by the fire and listen to nature at its best. I have included a picture of a large Black Bear I was able to walk up on to show that the DNR just does not know what is in this Forest they have marked for CLEAR CUT or they just Don't Care. Where do they think these animals are to go? CLEAR CUTTING leaves no refuge for any larger animal! The DNR tried to explain that the slashings are left so the rabbits, and ground dwellers have a home and that the deer will migrate through open CUT areas, truly I think they are Clueless. In the mean time I have been able to make contact with Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition and hopful they can help this along. I am also putting together a website and contacting Law Firms to see if there is any possible way to get this CLEAR CUT put on hold pending an Environmental Impact Study. This Fight has just begun! We now have approx 30,000 supports and I am hoping this update reaches all of you. If each of us can just get ONE MORE person to sign OUR petition we can double this number over night.
