Save Forest Lake in Dalton NH

Save Forest Lake in Dalton NH
The Issue
I am a native of New Hampshire and have lived in my home state my entire life with the last 25 years here in Bethlehem. I have seen what happens to a small north country mountain town when a behemoth like Casella moves in. Casella is a huge company who is in the business of solid waste collection and dumping. Bethlehem New Hampshire is in the heart of the White Mountain National Forest known for clean air, clean rivers, lakes and natural beauty. It is also home to one of many of Casella's landfills. The false promises Casella has made and still make to the citizens of Bethlehem, the lies they tell about environmental impacts, the continued push for more expansion when they have already reached the highest limits has created countless negative impacts to the environment and the citizens of Bethlehem . They have poisoned the Ammonoosuc River, our air and ground water. The endless trash that comes in from all of New England must stop. The citizens of Bethlehem have fought long and hard to stop the continued push for expansion at the Bethlehem Casella dumpsite. Now Casella is aggressively seeking a permit for a new dump in Dalton NH, two towns away. The lawsuits and fighting has caused deep division among our neighbors and friends.
From the News " New Hampshire regulators say the trash company Casella didn't do enough to prevent a leachate spill at its Bethlehem landfill in May 2021.Casella told the state in May 2021 that up to 154,000 gallons of leachate overflowed at the Bethlehem dump while it was unattended on a weekend" New Hampshire Public Radio
They are irresponsible and clearly in it for the money. They have sued the state of NH over an outdated solid landfill management plan to push their money making agenda. The State needs time to update the plan.
Please send an email to NHDES Wetlands Bureau, urging them to DENY the wetlands permit application submitted by Casella Waste Systems. The public commenting period has been extended to 4PM on September 13, 2021, with a decision by NHDES Wetlands due no later than October 28, 2021 (45 days following end of public comment period). We need them to DENY this permit for its destructiveness!
