Allow UPS employees to have beards

Austin Talley started this petition to CEO of United Parcel Service David P. Abney and

Many United Parcel Service drivers desire to have a beard, but it is strictly against the dress code because those in leadership positions at UPS believe that beards may be offensive to the public. Times have changed since the guidelines against facial hair were established. It's the 21st century and it's time for a change in the dress code!

  • Men can look clean without being clean-shaven, and UPS drivers deserve to be allowed a beard clean in appearance if they so please. Although most people, whether UPS employees or not, agree that beards are not off-putting, intimidating or unprofessional, the decision is not up to us. Those in charge of the UPS dress code need to see how many people support the freedom for men to choose for themselves whether to be clean-shaven or to keep a clean beard.
  • UPS has even been sued because of discrimination against those who refuse to shave because of their religious beliefs. There have already been a number of lawsuits against UPS just because of their unnecessary strictness about employees being clean-shaven. If we can convince UPS leadership to allow employees the option to have beards, it will keep these particular lawsuits from being filed, and allow drivers the freedom to look the way they want to while inflicting absolutely no harm on anyone.
  • I plan on retiring from UPS, and I believe that I should be able to have a beard that is clean in appearance. Many other UPS employees feel the same. It may sound silly, but although having a beard is not worth losing such a wonderful career opportunity, we would like to make a change in the dress code. If you don't find a man's beard to be offensive and believe that beards should be optional, please support our cause by signing this petition.

Please comment on whether or not you are a UPS employee for the record. Feel free to share any stories or experiences that may be helpful, and please share so that others can support this cause.

Thank you so much for your support!
