Calling for Rick Lipps, GM of WICS-TV to step down or be removed from his position.
The Issue
"Code Red" was being used inappropriately in WICS forecasts. With a lot of concern, viewers spoke up. Rick Lipps, the stations GM should have publicly addressed our concerns. However he did not. By not doing so it forced Meteorologist Joe Crain, a highly respected WICS employee, neighbor and friend to all his viewers to speak up. In return, Joe lost his job for it. If only Lipps would have addressed the situation with the honesty and professionalism that Joe Crain did! Instead Rick Lipps waited to make an appearance after sponsors started pulling ads from the newscast, and still did nothing but change the phrase "Code Red" to "Weather Warn".
When a company receives such enormous response from the public it"s the GM's responsibility to address the concerns. This GM failed and Joe stepped up to the plate, and lost his job because of it!
WICS-TV does not survive with Lipps as the GM.
