Kingston Council's Eden Quarter development plan proposes substantial and important changes to Kingston town centre, aiming to enhance access and improve its commercial and recreational atrractiveness.

While these changes may largely benefit the town, the development plan also significantly opens up Fairfield Park to immediate and potential future development. This disturbingly inlcudes the potential for a large portion of the park to be developed with buildings 1-5 storeys in height. The proposal also aims to provide a space for market traders, meaning that a significant portion of the green space will need to be paved, and therefore encroach upon recreational space used by many for sports, fitness and general leisure. Another cause for concern are vaguely termed "enhancements," which fail to detail how the park will actually be altered.

This petition aims to send a clear message to Kingston Council to:

- Keep the Fairfeld as a 100% green space.

- Fully protect the Fairfield from any immediate and/or future development.

- Put improvement plans of the Fairfield back into the hands of the community.
