Petition to end the cruel treatment of elephants in India

The Issue

The use of elephants in the Indian tourist trade is shocking and dismaying. Something needs to change. Elephants are used in many things from tourist attractions to festivals, and many are treated cruelly in the process, they are given a life of pain and suffering they in no way. An example of this process would be "pajan" which can only be described as a "breaking in" process for young elephants. They cannot move, nor do they have access to food or water, they do not sleep. They are then beaten, their sprits broken, until they will obey without question. This petition is a voice for those who care, for those who are passionate about welfare, to urge those in a position of power both in the UK and India to make changes.
