End Britain's addiction to sugar - cut recommended intake by half
The Issue
'Free' or added sugars have no nutritional value. The food industry knows they're good for sales, but they're hurting customers. The government can now send a clear message by lowering the recommended daily sugar intake by half.
Britain's addiction to sugar is placing a huge burden on the NHS. Obesity is running rampant, and tooth decay remains the number one reason for hospital admissions among young children.
It's time government put prevention first: listen to the advice from Britain's top scientists, and ensure the food industry cuts the dose.
