You worked incredibly hard to win Barack Obama his stunning victory in the 2008 presidential election.

Let's just say that your work for the Labour party hasn't been quite so good.

The Labour party isn't like the Democratic party in the US. We're skint. We don't have big name corporate donors or billionaire supporters to bail us out.

Your reported fee of nearly $500,000 is equivalent to the membership subscriptions of 12,500 low-paid members - precisely the sort of people who are going to find the next few years really tough.

What's worse if that according to reports you won't be paying any tax in the UK on this money, Labour MPs described your role as "invisible", it's said you even endorsed the idea of placing Labour's pledges on an 8ft stone tablet.

But, for me, the most damning sign is that you visited Labour party HQ so little you didn't even have a pass to get in.

It's going to be a tough year ahead for the Labour, as we rebuild our party.

So David, please do the decent thing and pay us back your £300,000 fee to help out the Labour party.
