World Wildlife Fund- Please Keep GMOs out the Amazon: Sever Ties with Monsanto

The Issue

We the undersigned request that you, the WWF, sever ties with the Monsanto Corporation and abstain from cutting trees in the Amazon Rain Forest to plant GMO crops, thereby irreversibly contaminating the Amazon and putting its people and animals in jeopardy.

The purposes of corporations such as Monsanto are directly opposed to the declared purpose of WWF, and working with this corporation is a contradiction and an outright conflict of interest. The key to feeding the world is sustainable, organic agriculture, not GMO crops inundated with the toxic pesticide glyphosate. Glyphosate has been determined by the World Health Organization to be a "probable carcinogen." Glyphosate cannot be removed by washing the food sources, as it is an inherent part of the plant. GMOs can also not be regulated and will then contaminate all parts of the forest due to pollination. Glyphosate is a known killer of bees and other pollinators. Glyphosate is also connected with a host of illnesses because it has been found to be an endocrine disrupter. Glyphosate will contaminate drinking water. Glyphosate will cause pesticide resistant weeds to grow, eventually prolifically.

Monsanto has been called out numerous times for preventing scientists from sharing research, for falsifying research, for withholding information regarding the toxicity of and carcinogenic properties of glyposate and for covering up fraudulent studies of its own.

Sever ties with Monsanto now... Before it is too late!
