Dear Mayor,

The Ipoh City Council (MBI) catches stray dogs upon receiving complaints from the public as their way of stray management. However, the dogs are kept in a pathetic manner before they are disposed. The dogs are cramped together for long periods in limited space and are denied food and water. Sometimes, they are left under the hot sun. Owners and animal welfare groups are not given enough time to claim their dogs. Hence, we the Animal Welfare Groups of Ipoh would like to urge the Ipoh local council to set up a pound like many other local councils in Malaysia (DBKL, MPK, MPSJ) where the caught dogs can be kept for a period of time, enabling the owners or animal welfare groups to claim them.
