The Issue

Reason for Petition: Citizens of Carbon County are deeply concerned about the transparency of data centers proposed within our community. We propose the following measures:

1. No Non-Disclosure Agreements. Companies proposing data centers must not engage in non-disclosure agreements with local governments. Transparency is paramount.

2. Ownership Disclosure. Permit applications must disclose full ownership details of the proposed data centers to mitigate any concerns regarding accountability and responsibility.

3. Taxpayer Funded Incentives. Clear disclosure of any taxpayer-funded incentives requested by data center projects must be mandatory to ensure that public funds are used in a manner that benefits the community as a whole.

4. Clean Energy Plans. Each proposal must include a plan that utilizes a clean energy source that operates independently of public energy grids, thus ensuring a sustainable approach that does not compromise our shared resources.

5. Sustainable Water Usage. Projects must incorporate a comprehensive sustainable water usage plan to prevent the depletion of local water resources, protecting both the environment and the community.

The citizens of Carbon County want to ensure that any proposed data centers will not cause harm to the outstanding quality of life that we enjoy, by causing harm to our environment, deplete our precious natural resources and cause a financial burden to our residents and local governments.
