The Issue

TLDR: Without due process, Dartmouth suspended a pro-Palestine student activist for protesting. Please sign this petition to pressure Dartmouth College to overturn their suspension.

On May 28, 2025, student protesters occupied the President's Office in Parkhurst Hall for five hours. This escalated action comes after a coalition of students, faculty, staff, and alumni spent months crafting an extensively researched 55-page proposal urging Dartmouth to divest from Israel’s apartheid practices, illegal occupations, and acts of genocide. Following pressure from a student encampment on May 1, 2025, the Advisory Committee on Investor Responsibility (ACIR) finally convened on May 20 to review the proposal, only to reject it on every single criterion. In a brazen show of disregard, the day after, Dartmouth College announced the creation of the Davidson Institute for Global Security, funded by the founders of Silver Lake, a private equity firm that invests in companies working with the Israeli military.

Protestors staged a sit-in in Beilock’s office with two demands:

(1) Send the divestment proposal directly to the Board of Trustees to vote on;

(2) Halt the development of the Davidson Institute for Global Security.

A few hours after the sit-in, Roan V. Wade was placed on immediate suspension from the college for allegedly participating in the Parkhurst protest. The college trespassed them from all Dartmouth-owned or affiliated properties, barring their access to food, medication, employment, or any of their belongings without due process. The college has produced zero evidence of their presence at the sit-in, except that Roan has been a committed and principled advocate for divestment, among several other causes, throughout their time at Dartmouth.

That day, the administration also sent out a calculated email to campus, parents, and alumni misrepresenting the sit-in as violent, precisely to justify cracking down on Roan. In actuality, the only violence during the sit-in came from the College: a “Safety and Security” officer physically assaulted protesters, even throwing one Jewish student to the ground.

Thus, in addition to the original demands of the Parkhurst sit-in, this petition demands that Dartmouth:

(3) Immediately overturn the suspension of Roan V. Wade.

Given the dire state of near-famine in Gaza and the rapidly accelerating colonization of the West Bank, student protesters have no choice but to force Dartmouth administration to take our demands seriously by disrupting the College's business as usual. We ask you to please sign this petition as a demonstration of your support.
