Webb Harrington started this petition to Dartmouth Office of the President and

Joe Asch '79 who ran Dartblog was an irreplaceable member of the Dartmouth community and a proud son of Dartmouth. We want to commemorate his incredible life and the indelible contributions he made to Dartmouth, its students, and the people around him. In order to celebrate his contributions, we are asking the Dartmouth Administration and President Phil Hanlon, in particular, to lower the flag on the Green to half-mast for the period of at least one day.

Joe was successful in many different fields over his life including law, consulting, and small business after he moved back to Hanover, NH. He spent years as head of Dartblog, fighting corruption and administrative bloat within Dartmouth. He audited dozens of classes at Dartmouth and engaged with hundreds of students. Many of those students would come to think of him as a friend and a mentor. All of them benefitted from having such a man in their lives.

I once heard that the measure of man at the end of his life is whether or not the world was better off for him having been in it. By that measure, Joe was among the best of us and as such deserves the best recognition and greatest honor that we can offer him.
