This beautiful old tree is over 100 years old.  It has provided shade, a home and food for many animals, contributed to water quality, provided a beautiful focal point, and fresh air.  The city of Darlington is losing its old trees at an alarming rate.  They argue that they are diseased and a liability to the city.  I think they should wait until they die before cutting them down.  This street is named Oak Street and they have slated our last two oak trees for demolition. This beautiful tree has been a part of my front yard for the entire 41 years that I have lived here and I do not want to lose it.  It is a part of history that needs to be preserved. I need help from other tree lovers to prevent the city from cutting this old beauty down.
