Provide assistance for a low cost spay/neuter program
The Issue
Hi, my name is Sara Habis and I am asking for your help.
6 dogs 11 puppies 5 cats 29 kittens
Now imagine a small county shelter, already full to capacity, and in 2 hours these 51 pets are dropped off. Yes, just 2 hours.
Please sign this petition asking for help to provide a low cost spay/neuter service in Darlington County South Carolina and surrounding areas.
The numbers listed above would be overwhelming for any shelter, but for these shelter workers and volunteers it is heartbreaking. They work tirelessly to save every pet that enters its doors, either by adoptions, fostering and transporting to rescues and forever homes, both in and out of state. They are a dedicated group that has successfully managed not to euthanize adoptable pets for space alone. With increasing numbers entering the shelter at this time of the year, it becomes more difficult to have that success continue. So please sign this petition and share it to spread the word.
This shelter needs help to continue its good works. It starts with a low cost spay/neuter program that offers animal caregivers a way to avoid these accidental/unwanted litters.
They are fighting a rising tide currently and we want to bring this problem and solution to the county officials to have them aware of this growing issue. We know the county council may be struggling to juggle all its programs in these hard economic times, but we are hoping to bring to light a program that could reap huge benefits to our community. We can get to the root of this problem by implementing a low cost spay/neuter program. We need help from our community, our county and our country to encourage officials to find funding for this much needed service that will encourage animal caregivers to have their pets spayed/neutered.
Preventing unwanted litters prevents unnecessary deaths, so please sign and share this petition far and wide.
Thank you.
