Stop Murdering Pit Bulls at Darke County Animal Shelter!

This petition had 8,139 supporters

Join us and demand that the Darke County Animal Shelter stop killing "pit bull" type dogs! The shelter doesn't even attempt to adopt out these innocent dogs. Instead they euthanize them because they have visually identified them as "pit bulls".

A shelter's duty is to give every single dog in their care a fair chance at adoption - regardless of breed.

As it stands, the tax dollars of all Darke County citizens are sponsoring ignorance, discrimination and murder. It must stop!

This petition asks the Darke County Commissioners to change their discriminatory policies and to begin adopting out ALL dogs and ALL breeds at the Darke County Animal Shelter.

The shelter has even stopped working with rescues. Lives are on the line and these backwards policies are 100% unacceptable. Breed discrimination is wrong. Let's not teach our children that discrimination is acceptable under any circumstance. It's a slippery slope...

This petition also asks the Darke County Commissioners to ensure the shelter begins working actively with the many wonderful rescues in Darke County and beyond.

*Please sign this petition which will then be presented to the Darke County Commissioners in Greenville, Ohio. It is the commissioners who are responsible for these policies. Those elected commissioners are: Mike Rhoades, Mike Stegall and Diane Delaplane.

**In addition to signing this petition, please also consider emailing these commissioners to respectfully demand they reform their discriminatory policies. Their emails are:,,

Only together through our collaborative activism can we bring about this change and protect innocent dogs!
