Rafael Medina grew up in the South Bronx his mother couldn't read or write, in and out of shelters; he's never had a bed or home of his own he's been in prison since age 19 for a crime someone else pled guilty to he is now 36. Rafael couldn't afford a real defense and was given a non jury trial with zero physical evidence against him his lawyer did no research he didn't interview all of the witnesses, evidence that wasn't legal admissible was introduced at trial (photo of Rafael) Rafaels mother paid several paralegals to try and get all of his paperwork and it's all missing from his file. In 2012 Rafael was placed on a court calendar for a 601d hearing for Post Release Supervision in the Bronx without any knowledge to him, the Bronx DA attempted to give him additional PRS on his determinate sentence of 8 years after it expired all the while he has LIFE on the end of it, all other inmates were present but not Rafael. There was an oral admission by the DA's office that his murder conviction could be vacated on a 440 motion so they wanted to make sure he had supervision on the determinate sentence even though that is illegal he was also denied his constitutional right to be present during re-sentencing;  Rafael has a son who 16 that needs his father, Rafael himself grew up fatherless, his father was a sexual predator who left him at the hospital at birth and never returned.
