FIP is a devastating disease that comes as death sentence to all cats who contract it. Sadly the only cure for FIP, a drug known as GS-441524, is not legally obtainable to those who need it. Many cat owners who refuse to let FIP win have been forced to illegally obtain this treatment through the black market. Despite the fact that this treatment has already saved thousands of lives, Gilead Sciences has not taken any steps to obtain approval of the drug as a treatment for FIP. Although "GS" is not yet licensed for veterinary use, it has already been proven safe and effective by the thousands of pet owners who were able to save their beloved pets from certain death. 

When a safe and effective cure for a fatal disease such as FIP exists, there should be no reason that it is so difficult to obtain. Through this petition, I am hoping to persuade Gilead Sciences to start taking the steps to get this treatment approved for veterinary use. If this can be accomplished, it will no doubt end and prevent countless suffering among felines and their owners. No animal should be forced to suffer or have their lives cut short due to the effects of this terrible disease. With this said, I urge Gilead Sciences to take action and prevent FIP from claiming any more innocent lives.
