Hi all, I know it has been a while since this has been updated but I want to thank everyone who played a part in signing and sharing.
I managed to get our cause to the level of Governor General but unfortunately they declined to proceed stating that it would give a false sense of security to those who checked it and their partner was not on it. It is a bit disappointing that the Government did not see the benefits of getting one started as it has to start somewhere, however this has not stopped me trying to change and make a stand for victims united.
I am now on a mission to implement new laws being made that perpetrators are charged and punished with the correct charge and not a blanket one such as Common Assault or Recklessly Cause Injury. I am fighting to have them implement that these are DV based and have a whole new level or punishments attached such as mandatory counselling/therapy as well as duration of punishments in jail which should fit the impact on the victim.
In doing this, I have created a GoFundMe account to assist for any meetings needed to be attended and time taken off work to get the ball rolling. I would appreciate the support in either donations and/or sharing to get the word out.
Together lets make a change for future victims to be heard!
