Mike Baird has just confirmed that his government will put an end to the cruel and dangerous greyhound racing industry in NSW. This decision came after a special commission found that more than 50,000 greyhounds - nearly half all the dogs bred for racing - are killed because they're deemed not competitive enough to live. Baird described the report as "chilling...horrific", and those chillingly horrific things are still going on in Victoria. 

Australia is a dog loving nation, we keep dogs in our homes, our lives and our hearts. Tormenting greyhounds for sport is abhorrent to anyone who knows their capacity for gentleness, humour and love. 

Daniel Andrews, the Premier of Victoria, has the power to join Mike Baird in putting an end to this horrific industry. He could save thousands of dogs from early death and terrible lives. And prove at the same time that doing the right thing is more important than appeasing the cruelty-for-profit racing and gambling industries. 

If NSW can take this step, Victoria can too. Mr Andrews, it's time to get rid of greyhound racing in our state.
