Allow dance studios to open alongside other community sport

Today, the premier said “all community sport will return for children”.

And I got really excited thinking about how happy my dance community will be in regional Victoria.

However, in his newest press release he states “Outdoor contact and non-contact sport: allowed for people 18 and under”.
That “Fitness or dance classes (including classes associated with gyms)” are “closed for indoor operations”.

What confuses us in the dance community is that sports that involve close contact, tackling & more can run, however we can’t run classes adhering with social distancing guidelines?
How is that fair on those kids who thrive in a dance class, but don’t in a ball sport?

Why is there such segregation between the different sports?

Kids can partake in a dance class at school, little social distancing.
Yet we can’t in a dance studio with it?

We provide so many kids a safe & uplifting place to come, to escape for an hour or more a week and do something they’re truly passionate about.

How can the government expect us to deny so many kids the opportunity to be involved in something they love, when their siblings who play a ball sport can return to that within the week. It’s not fair.

The arts & entertainment industry has once again fallen through the cracks when it comes to governments choices.
It’s time we are heard!
