He claimed he did so to help a local village, but experts say that the $40,000 that he spent on this cruel hunting trip would have helped and fed the village much, much more than his killing one female elephant.

Native wild elephant populations are dwindling all over the world due to climate change, encroachment of human habitation, and hunters like Mr. Parsons. It is estimated that by the turn of the next century, without change, they may be all but extinct.
