Dandenong Poultry Auction routinely abuse the animals they sell. Roughly dragged from their cages, ducks and chickens are held up by their feet for people to grab and feel their bodies for meat. The animals being sold are usually sick, injured and all are terrified. Some of the illnesses pose a human health threat. After the animals are sold they are again dragged from their cages, and multiple birds are tied together by their feet before being thrown into car boots. Since attending the poultry auction we have found a chick dumped alive in a rubbish bin, a dying turkey, birds with bloody swollen eyes and an hen with a lacerated foot left to drag herself around the carpark. Dandenong Council and the RSPCA are aware of the conditions and have been called out numerous times to investigate but to no avail. We need people to sign our petition to put pressure on these organisations to act and shut them down for good.
