Re Open The Kismet Co. Outdoor Hair Salon

The Issue

In September 2020 The Kismet Co. Hair Salon In Ballard Seattle opened the first outdoor salon in Washington state. A safer, clean, open air space to offer to customers for hair services. Lisa Clarno/ owner was able to provide haircuts/ hair color for clients with serious illnesses, immune compromised, asthmatic, and clients in a high risk category of contracting COVID-19. They did not feel comfortable/ safe going to a larger indoor salon.
The salon provided a much needed environment for the community. The Kismet Co. adapted their ways of thinking during the Pandemic to not only help others in need, but to able to keep the small business open while many Salons are closing throughout the Seattle area.
Lisa leases 2 studio indoor salon spaces on the property. The Landlord Dana Wells and herself had a separate outdoor lease agreement. Currently Dana Wells refuses to renew the agreement. He has been provided documentation of the numerous ways the outdoor salon has benefited the community. He refuses to give any adequate explanation. The space on the property is empty, no current usage and no direct affect on any other tenants. Lisa has spent over $6,000 improving the studios and exterior to accommodate the outdoor salon of her own savings. Along with keeping current rent payments through the pandemic and moratorium.
The goal outcome is to have the Outdoor Salon fully operational year round. Canopies, heat lamps and all safety/ comfort options will be put into action. Signing this petition and sharing the mission of The Kismet Co. will greatly help in the efforts creating change and a safe place for clients to feel better about themselves when we all need it right now. Please share this and get the word out! Thank you
