What a difference a day makes.
Last night, in direct response to us making contact, two independent liquor retailers came onboard and joined the boycott. No fuss, no board meeting, no PowerPoint presentations required - just common sense and a good heart. They responded within hours.
They were the first retailers or venues to join the Russian vodka boycott that we know of in Australia.
Thankyou Wine Republic! They have three locations in Melbourne's hipper locations.
The other retailer wishes to remain anonymous but you know them if you like to order the finer things from online merchants to be delivered in the nick of time.
This morning we woke to hear that Australia's predominant liquor retailer Dan Murphy's is taking the Russian hooch off the shelves. This is massive and will create a tidal wave of similar boycotts. We are not taking credit for this decision but regardless, thanks Dan.
Now we need bars, nightclubs and pubs to get onboard. Frankly, they've been very slow off the mark. Their US and Canadian counterparts did not hesitate.
I've been in discussions with Wine Republic this morning and a plot has been hatched to turn the boycott into a fundraising bonanza that will make Putin supporters very angry.
Stay tuned for some unique vodka offerings.
Thanks for your support. It's the people who get onboard early who make the biggest impact.
