Every year, more students start to attend Dalton State College. We should not have to drive around campus for 10-20+ minutes just to find a parking space. When individuals go to work, they are not expected to be there 30 minutes early just to get parking, so why should we as students be expected to arrive at school 30 minutes early just to get to class on time? It is also understood that there is a campus shuttling program that will move students from the Dalton trade center to the DSC campus, but this is not a sufficient solution to the issue. Many students have jobs, and they cannot afford to leave them an hour earlier than expected to be able to wait on a shuttle. This problem will continue to get worse as more students start to attend the school. DSC has begun to make accommodations for more students through the renovation of Memorial Hall and has future plans to renovate the Sequoia building, but refuses to admit the already inadequate parking will not support the kind of growth these new buildings will attract. We need more on campus parking at Dalton State College.
