Up until fairly recently the Dalmatian club of America was set on “fixing” the deaf issue in Dalmatians, and at one point even required their breeders, vets and anyone caring for a deaf puppy to euthanize.

They still in 2021 encourage and support “humane euthanization of bilaterally deaf puppies as an alternative to homing them.” Killing a puppy simply because they are deaf is not humane. They are not reputable if they still have this in writing, they have built their foundation in the past around lying about deaf dog statistics and inhumanly putting puppies down because they are deaf to falsify statistics in the breed. Now we believe they’re pushing towards a better future. 

The best resolve to our petition would be to have them remove the wording suggesting that bilaterally deaf puppies be euthanized as an alternative and have the breeders reach out to organizations and educated groups on deaf Dals that can find them proper homes! Euthanizing a pup for being deaf is NOT humane. They are worth saving.
