The Issue
Dallas Independent School Board (DISD) Trustees are meeting this Friday, May 1, at 4 pm to decide on the future of Superintendent Mike Miles.
Superintendent Miles has been a true leader in improving Dallas schools and I support keeping him as DISD Superintendent!
I support Superintendent Miles because he has:
- Implemented a teacher evaluation and compensation model to improve the quality of classroom instruction and retain effective teachers
- Significantly upgraded the quality of the district’s school principals through effective hiring, rigorous evaluation, and strong support
- Brought teacher vacancies to an all-time low through revamped recruitment
- Improved services and support for schools by restructuring the district into strategic feeder patterns
- Increased investment in early childhood programs
- Substantially improved the district’s financial position despite declining state funding
