Save Smokey!
ACTION ALERT!
Enough Is Enough!
After NINE MONTHS in captivity at the Dallas Animal Shelter, Smokey needs to be set free.
MAN WHO ALLEGED SMOKEY BIT HIM HAS VIOLENT CRIMINAL PAST AND IS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR MURDER.
In January 2020, Bradley Wayne Holland Jr., alleged that Smokey bit him. Smokey's owner stated that Holland was threatening and aggressive and that Smokey was protecting her. (Which, under the State Dangerous Dog Law is a defense to prosecution)
Despite a settlement offer from the owner to remove Smokey from the City, Dallas Animal Services refuses to release Smokey. Smokey has been held at Dallas Animal Services since January 2020 - NINE MONTHS.
Today we learned that Mr Holland is under investigation for the murder of William Thomas Gilbreath. (see article below)
In fact, Mr Holland's supervised release was revoked by order of Judge Mazzant (U.S. Eastern District Court) on May 23, 2019 and Holland was ordered to serve 24 months in prison.
Mr Holland has a history of violent criminal activity. This information only serves to reinforce the owner's defense that Smokey was protecting her.
It also begs the question....if Mr Holland's supervision was overturned, and he was ordered to be in jail....why was he out and about in January 2020?
It's time for the city of Dallas to STOP terrorizing families by taking their family pets.
It's time for DAS to be more responsible, and less sloppy in their investigations.
It's time to set Smokey free.
We demand that Smokey is released to his owner, pending his October trial. On August 19, the city allowed Havoc, another dog accused of biting someone, to return to his owner pending trial.
Enough is Enough!
