As concerned citizens of Newton County, we would like to see a redlight with turn signals installed at the intersection of GA Hwy 212 and Bethany/Butler Bridge Roads. This is a very dangerous intersection as GA Hwy 212 has a blind hill coming from the South and vehicles are not obeying the posted traffic speed of 45 mph.  There has been several fatalities at the intersection in the past and as early as just last week when one of our citizens from The Falls @ Butler Bridge was killed when his vehicle was T-boned by another vehicle.

The installation of this light would curb the speeding on GA Hwy 212 and will allow our citizens who have to turn right or left off Bethany Road or Butler Bridge Road to make their turns safely.  Also, a light at this intersection would slow traffic to a reasonable speed to ensure the buses arriving and leaving Oak Hill Elementary School time to make their turns from GA Hwy 212 into the school and also when leaving the school.
