Stop breed-discrimination in Mishawaka, IN.

The Issue

Mishawaka city ordinance deems pit bulls a dangerous breed and makes it almost immpossible for responsible pet owners to save them from being killed. According to the ASPCA "there is no evidence that breed-specific laws-which are costly and difficult to enforce-make communities safer for people or companion animals." Further more they go onto say, "following a thorough study of human fatalities resulting from dog bites, the United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC) decided NOT to support breed-specific laws." What's wrong with breed-specific laws? It encourages dog owners to hide their beloved pit bulls in fear that they will be taken or unfairly fined so the dogs are often kept indoors and away from vet care. Good owners and dogs are being punished. They impart a false sense of security within the community. Please help stop breed discrimination in my city.
