Keep the Miami Dade Ban on PitBulls.

Sign the petition to Keep the Pitbull Ban in place as voted on by the people of Dade County. The people should not have to vote again to keep the ban in place. A group of commissioners should not be allowed to overrule the vote of the people. It is illegal in Miami-Dade County to own or keep American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, or any other dog that substantially conforms to any of these breeds' characteristics. For more information, view the Miami-Dade County ordinance, Chapter 5, Sec. 5-17. http://www.miamidade.gov/animals/pitbull-law.asp

Update...Nov 2016: The commission chairman’s office informed CBS4 News that the bill’s sponsor, Commissioner Bruno Barreiro, has withdrawn it. Barreiro apparently wants to rewrite and expand the bill in the hopes it will be more appealing to other commissioners. Some additions include penalties for animal fighting and irresponsible owners."

As Miami-Dade commissioners take up the proposed repeal of the pit bull ban, they no doubt will recall voters overwhelmingly rejected the notion four years ago, and that more than 700 cities and counties have pit bull prohibitions in place.

Dec 2016:  just today on the news another attack in Ft Lauderdale has left a woman in critical condition. I give you one guess what breed the dog was. I say "was" because police had to shoot the dog to stop it. It nearly tore both her arms off. Once again, "they were nice dogs", "I don't understand...." They were her house pets, she had them since they were puppies....enough is enough...
KEEP THE BAN! Pit Bulls are a broken breed.

the attack I was referencing. Horrendous attack by her own pet that had no previous sign of mischief. Even the neighbors said the dogs would visit them frequently without incident. Then, SNAP, one of them attacked. No warning. Which is exactly the problem.

April 2017 just returned from yet another dog attack 911 call. And yes, Pitt Bulls. 3 of them. Lady was walking her 2 dogs on a leash on the sidewalk, a door opened and out they ran, full attack mode. 12 years of fire service, every dog bite has been Pitts. Why? Because....Pitt Bulls.
