As part of its efforts in re-branding, turkey tormentors Bernard Matthews have landed a £3m sponsorship deal with everyone's favourite, The Simpsons. Not only are the adverts themselves insultingly misleading - Birds are shown getting pampered, enjoying the great outdoors and generally doing the opposite of spending short wretched lives in crowded conditions in windowless barns until they are slaughtered at around twenty weeks - The sponsorship deal is in direct opposition to the views and incredibly generous actions of The Simpsons co-creator, Sam Simon. After being diagnosed with cancer, Sam donated his £100 million fortune to charity, including PETA, a dog rescue haven and The Sea Sheperd Conservation Society. It's fair to say he would have been appalled by this sponsorship deal, and by the fact that Bernard Matthews- a company whose staff have been convicted for playing baseball with live turkeys- are profiting by an association with his work. Sam did so much for animals is his too short life- Lets do this one thing for him, and tell Channel Four to ditch Bernard Matthews.
