I am a concerned tenant at Lakeside observing a disturbing pattern by the management firm, CP Group. Each year, the same pair of Canada Geese make a journey to our property, using the quiet little pond as a sanctuary for their offspring. Yet, their precious eggs have been systematically destroyed, using permits granted by U.S. Fish and Wildlife. These permits should only be used when absolutely necessary. These geese have been non-disruptive and their love for this location is evident in their yearly return. You can see the same couple returning year after year to lay a couple of eggs. My firm is a tenant on the property and our team looks forward to the return each year of “Glen” and “Ashley” which we’ve named as representing our area.

Canada Geese, as we know, are a vital part of our ecological system. Their migration patterns play a significant role in nutrient cycling, connecting different ecosystems together by seed disbursement. According to the Audubon Society, these geese also help in controlling certain types of vegetation overgrowth.

More so, it's an ethical concern. These creatures should have the right to see their offsprings live and not dread the destruction of their eggs each time they return to what they believe is a safe haven. They do not have a voice and we have to be that voice to protect them in their own natural habitat. They have enough natural predators that humans should not be adding to their decimation but rather assisting in their protection. 

It's a plea from the heart; call upon CP Group @ Lakeside Properties to cease this destructive practice of destroying Canada Geese's eggs unnecessarily. Sign the petition and add your voice to the call for change. Every signature is a step towards ensuring these birds can safely raise their offspring in our community, without fear of unwarranted interference.
