SICK OF PRESIDENT CLEMO DESTROYING OUR ONCE GREAT INSTITUTION? LET THEM KNOW! GIVE THEM A PIECE OF YOUR MIND!
Shortly following our Cancel Clemo Protest demonstration in Prospect Park on Thursday evening the recently hired Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Pamela Say, sent out an e-mail to all faculty, staff, and students stating that the D’Youville Board of Trustees affirmed their support of the current administration. (Photo of that e-mail attached.) Though the protest was smaller than we expected, (due to several potential participants being afraid of retaliation from the administration) it was highly effective. The official e-mail states that the Board of Trustees (BOT) supports Clemo as president, but there is talk that this may not be the case. You signed the petition. We must continue the momentum and let the BOT know that the D’Youville community does not support Clemo as president of the college. We encourage ALL to write a letter to the BOT about why you believe Lorrie Clemo should be removed from the office of President of D’Youville College. If you write a letter please Cc dycprobs@gmail.com so that we can share the letters on social media to hold the board accountable regarding our qualms with Clemo and to strengthen the voice of our movement. Faculty, Staff and Students:
As some of you may know, a small group of approximately 11 individuals attended a protest this evening in Prospect Park adjacent to D’Youville. The protesters included roughly four current students and two individuals who are not permitted on campus.
At least one of the student participants made themselves known earlier this week to our Student Engagement staff. The staff member met with this student on Tuesday to talk through the list of complaints, which mirrors a similar list posted recently on social media. The complaints were also written in a letter and mailed to the chair of the college’s Board of Trustees.
Student Engagement staff on Tuesday offered to facilitate a meeting between the complainants and the college administration, but received no such request. The list of complaints was reviewed by the Board of Trustees and college administrators at a recent meeting. While the list points out specific decisions of and changes at the institution, it includes numerous inaccuracies. No action was taken by the board. Rather, they affirmed their support of the current administration at D’Youville.
