We, the undersigned, are extremely upset with the proposed enlargement of the Katonah, NY CVS.  When CVS took over from the existing Katonah Pharmacy several months ago, we were outraged that a national retail chain store was taking over from a longtime independently-owned local business. However, we consoled ourselves with the fact that the store was modest in size, and not entirely antithetical to the individualistic, small-town feeling we have long prided ourselves on.  Now it appears that was only the beginning: the proposed new CVS will be far larger (the equivalent of five stores currently in that shopping center),  and will displace several valued independent merchants at their own expense. This bigger store is unnecessary because there is a perfectly adequate large scale CVS less than 3 miles away.  The giant CVS will be one of the first businesses people see when they enter our town, and it will detract from the eclectic charm that people have long associated with Katonah. We ask CVS to stop its expansion plans for the Katonah CVS.  Moreover, we pledge that we will not shop at the new CVS if this expansion goes through.
