During these troubling times in our nation and our city of Atlanta, workers are being FORCED to work during hours of darkness, PAST the city curfew. I am the Operations Manager for one of the many locations vandalized during the protesting. Employees have voiced their concern about working "normal business hours" which have them inside the store until 11p.m. Not one employee feels safe, and not one employee wants to risk being out past the city curfew. After taking measures to try to clear this up "the right way" we are still being told that if we want a job, we will be there until 11p.m. Of course the people telling us this are at home, not out past curfew, not at risk of being attacked or robbed, but WE are. I am a black man, driving a nice car after curfew...I don't like those odds if I get pulled over. Until all this is figured out, we need to be out of the store during during daylight hours, with enough time to make it home before curfew, and even when the curfew is lifted, we need to give things time to get to normal before we are back to "normal business hours". Nobody should feel like their job is on the line and feel like they are forced to be in a place where they don't feel safe. The front door was literally shot out and in order to get the store back open as soon as possible so CVS makes money, you rig up a front door that you would put on your home and tell us that is secure? It doesn't even have a deadbolt. A 5 year old child could kick that door in but its "secure". At the end of the day, I need for CVS to give a damn about the safety of their employees who are the real ones keeping the company running. The district managers sitting back telling us what to do...you come sit in the store until 11p.m. I doubt we will see that day so until then, I need the hours changed. We should not be in the store after 8p.m. That gets us out the store during daylight, and gives us time to get home before mandatory curfew.
