CVS and Walgreens: Stop selling homeopathic asthma medications.
The Issue
Many homeopathic products aim to treat or cure problems that will resolve on their own or problems that aren't life-threatening (colds, sleeplessness). However, asthma is not such a disease, and CVS and Walgreens are selling a product, AsthmaCare by KingBio, that's primarily made of water with no proof that it can help with asthma symptoms. It's on store shelves right next to real asthma medications and it sells for $25, a comparable price to real asthma medications. If someone isn't aware that homeopathic remedies are mainly composed of water, they could easily purchase this, attempt to treat their asthma, and stop breathing.
I reached out to my followers at scibabe.com and asked their feelings on this, and produced video with a group of asthmatics voicing their quite strong opinions on this, including a demonstration from a man showing that it could not treat his asthma symptoms. This product is not in any way designed to treat asthma.
Please, CVS and Walgreens, you're both good companies. Do the right thing. Listen to your customers with asthma. Pull this product from the shelves before someone gets hurt.
